FamilyTreeDNA's team has posted the Mitotree preprint, a universal reference phylogeny built from more than 330,000 complete mitochondrial sequences and over 54,000 branches — ten times the resolution of the legacy PhyloTree — yielding landmark findings including haplogroup L7 and the true identity of Otzi the Iceman.
